Brief History
At a Scripture Union Easter House Party (Retreat) in 1974 the course of evangelization in Ghana was forever altered. Christian church leaders met and on this historical occasion came to the realization that something drastic had to be done if the people of Ghana were ever to be reached for Christ. From this meeting came the idea of a Ghanaian missionary sending an organization that would reach out throughout the country and evangelize the unreached people groups of Ghana living in deprived area. This vision was realized through the formation of Christian Outreach Fellowship (COF).
About Us
Christian Outreach Fellowship (COF) is an indigenous non-denominational, Ghanaian Mission agency founded in April, 1974 with the mandate to reach people who have little or no access to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. To this end, we work in very deprived communities sharing the Bread of Life on one hand and helping in community development on the other hand.
The ministry’s head office is located at Mampong-Akwapim in the Eastern Region of Ghana with an office staff of four led by the Executive Director.
From a humble beginning of 6 pioneer indigenous missionaries, COF ministry currently has a workforce of about 168 missionaries serving mainly in Northern Ghana. These missionaries have planted hundreds of churches since our inception.WHAT WE DO
COF ministry remains resolute to keep reaching the unreached in Ghana and to do so in other countries in the sub-region, which have yet to receive the light of the Gospel.
From its inception till now, Christian Outreach Fellowship continues to stay true to its founding vision by deploying indigenous workers to serve the unengaged unreached and unchurched people groups in deprived communities in Ghana. COF missionaries serve mainly in Northern Ghana ministering to a total of 17 people groups namely; Fulani (Fufulde), Jula, Ligbi, Kotokoli, Birifor, Lobi, Wala, Tamprusi, Mamprusi, Kokomba, Kasem, Gonja, Frafra, Kusaal, Builsa, Dagaaba, Dagomba.
These missionaries have planted hundreds of Churches since our inception,
To ensure a quality workforce and grow healthy churches, we conduct periodic training programs for our missionaries/church planters on topics spanning effective church leadership, micro-finance and family life. We currently have over hundred trainee church planters under our 2Timothy 2:2 training model – a grassroots modular training scheme.
We bring transformations to the communities in which we serve by sharing the Bread of Life on one hand and helping in community development on the other hand. We have thus helped curtailed girl child marriage by establishing educational institutions- The William Ofori Atta Memorial Vocational School, Bawku- that have helped to meet the need for quality education combined with strong Christian principles. This has also help keep and nurture girls in these communities
As a result, girls who would have otherwise been victims of child marriage, now have access to education and acquire vocational skills to enable them have gainful employment.
