WHAT WE DO

Through the gospel of Jesus Christ, we bring hope and salvation to those who need it. We are committed to spreading this message of hope and love to all corners of the world, and we strive to be a beacon of light for those who are lost. We believe that this is the ultimate mission given to us by Christ, and we are dedicated to passionately pursue it and to bring the hope of the gospel to all who are in need.

1. Church Planting

From its inception till now, Christian Outreach Fellowship continues to stay true to its founding vision by deploying indigenous workers to serve the unengaged and unreached people groups in deprived communities in Ghana. From a humble beginning of six pioneer indigenous missionaries, the ministry currently has a workforce of 168 ministering to a total of 17 people groups namely; Fulani (Fufulde), Jula, Ligbi, Kotokoli, Birifor, Lobi, Wala, Tamprusi, Mamprusi, Kokomba, Kasem, Gonja, Frafra, Kusaal, Builsa,  Dagaaba, Dagomba.

Over the years, God’s grace coupled with the determination of our workforce and the supports of our partners have resulted in the planting of hundreds of churches and thousands of discipled converts.

2. Training

To ensure a quality workforce and grow healthy churches, we conduct periodic training programs for our missionaries/church planters on topics spanning effective church leadership, micro-finance and family life. We currently have about over hundred trainee church planters under the Timothy Initiative; 2Timothy 2:2 training model – a grassroots modular training scheme.

3. Audio Bbles Ministry

The Regeneration Centre led by Tory Bjorklund runs a prison ministry in Minessota. They fostered a partnership with COF to help continue the distribution of audio Bibles in Ghana. The audio Bibles are mostly in the Ghanaian native languages such as  Ga, Dangme, Akwapim Twi, Asante Twi, Ewe, Nzema, Dagbani, Likpalkpaln (Konkomba), Dagaare among others.  We receive and distribute the audio Bibles from the Regeneration Centre (TRC) to all our mission fields. The Audio Bibles serve as tools our missionaries use in preaching and sharing the word of God with their disciples and new converts.

4. Social Interventions

The William Ofori Atta Memorial Vocational School, Bawku:

This school is both a vocational and senior high school located in Bawku in the Upper East Region. It was founded with the intention of giving vocational training to the youth, especially girls. Because of the school, girls who would have otherwise been victims of child marriage have access to education and acquire vocational skills to enable them to have gainful employment.

The William Ofori Atta Memorial School, Dama-Nkwanta:

The school runs from primary to junior high with a population of 224 pupils and 7 teachers. The school is located in the Dama-Nkwanta mission field. It was founded to meet the need for quality education combined with strong Christian principles. By the grace of God, ten pupils, comprising three girls and seven boys have graduated from the school and gained admission to Senior High School.

The Shalom Academy:

The Shalom Academy was started by our missionary to the Fufulde people, Issa Gyani and his team as a bridge in ministering to the Fulani community in Buipe. Currently, it runs from nursery to kindergarten II with 49 pupils and 3 teachers.

Care for Women Accused of Witchcraft – The Nabuli Camp:

In most of the communities where we serve, superstition is deeply entrenched in the people’s worldview. When misfortune occurs, the question often asked is “who caused it?” Often times, it is women who are accused of being the cause and are wrongfully labelled as witches. When this happens, they are made to go through ordeals and some even lose their lives in the process. They thus run to communities whose chiefs are sympathetic to their plight and therefore live there as safe havens. They live in the quarter of the community which is often referred to as witches’ camp. COF workers who noticed these women and their plight in the course of their ministry at Nabuli have brought relief to them by providing them with some basic needs and also sharing the gospel with them. In addition to the above, COF undertakes periodic advocacy programs to sensitize communities against the maltreatment of women in such circumstances.

5. Motorcycles

Motorbikes constitute a very useful resource in the mission field situation. They provide the missionaries and workers access to easy mobility as they go about spreading the gospel in their communities and other nearby communities thus making an otherwise difficult work very bearable. Again, they assist the missionaries to respond to calls by offering transport services to the sick who need assistance or medical attention in clinics or hospitals in towns in emergency situations.

We are grateful to the Lord for the supply of motorbikes to our field workers through our local partners.

6. Mission Centre Project

Our Mission Centre Project is underway at Akwapim – Mampong in the Eastern Region. It is partly completed. When fully completed, the facility will serve the training and office accommodation needs of the ministry as well as generate revenue to support our operations.

7. Economic Empowerment

Life is very difficult in the unreached places where we work. To improve the livelihood of our workers, the ministry offers them various economic empowerment packages some of which are the animal husbandry project where our workers are given livestock e.g. goats, sheep, pigs or bullocks and ploughs for their farm work. We also give micro financial assistance to enable our workers their disciples and new converts run their micro businesses like food vending among other things.

8. Other Donations

We received 200 LED bulbs from Ms. Eunice Osei, one of COF’s partners for distribution to the fields. This donation is part of a donor package between the Government of Ghana and the World Bank meant for deprived communities. Ms. Eunice took the bulbs from the Ministry of Energy for COF knowing that we better represent and serve in the deprived areas of the country. They have been designated to the Dama-Nkwanta area and have been distributed by Missionary Charles Makate who serves in their field.

We also received over 3,400 medical nose mask from 3 Bridges International, one of COF’s partners’ for distribution to the Mission fields. COF distributed part of the nose masks to Charles Makate at the Atebubu mission center.
